Ronaldo's Last Season: 19 Goals to 1,000 and the Al-Nassr Shirt Almost Nobody Stocks
Cristiano Ronaldo is 19 goals away from 1,000 for his career, and his Al-Nassr contract runs out in June 2027. In August he told Vogue this was "probably my last year of football." The international chapter closed this week in Copenhagen. What is left is Riyadh, a title-winning squad, and a countdown.
It is also, awkwardly for anyone who wants to wear the shirt while it is still current, the part of his career the jersey trade largely ignored. Al-Nassr is the biggest club in Saudi Arabia and one of the most-followed teams in Asia, but the club shirt is stocked by almost nobody outside the region. We now carry eleven Al-Nassr items — nine of them added this week, covering the 2025/26 title season as well as the current kit. Here is the countdown, the timeline, and the honest buying picture.
- The number: 981 career goals — 19 short of 1,000, a mark no professional footballer has reached.
- The clock: Al-Nassr contract to June 2027; he turns 42 on 5 February 2027; he is expected to stop playing when the deal ends.
- The next match: Al-Nassr host Al-Diriyah at Al-Awwal Park on Friday 9 October, Saudi Pro League matchday 8.
- The shirts: eleven Al-Nassr items — the 2025/26 home and away shirts in printed and plain versions, three kids' kits and a João Félix print at $45.90, plus the current 2026/27 Ronaldo No. 7 at $38.90. All cut in Asian sizing.
Why this is probably the last season
Three things point the same way. The contract has an end date and no extension has been agreed — Saudi media have openly discussed the likelihood that the club does not renew. His own language hardened in the summer, when he told Vogue the future was "all mapped out" and this was probably his final year. And the international exit on 30 September removed the last reason to keep pushing into a 25th professional season.
He has also been told, publicly, that the ending matters. Saudi outlet Kooora ran a long piece arguing that the chase for 1,000 could be remembered as the thing that dented the record rather than crowned it: that a player who forces the number becomes defined by the forcing. The comparison it drew was with players who chose their own exit — Messi, Zidane, Pelé — rather than waiting to be dropped. That is the debate Ronaldo is playing inside now, and he is aware of it.
"In due course, I will tell all Portuguese people the truth about the reasons that led me to leave the national team, to which I have always dedicated myself."
— Cristiano Ronaldo, 30 September 2026, on leaving the Portugal campThe 1,000-goal countdown
The milestones have been arriving roughly every twelve months, which is the clearest evidence that the target is reachable rather than aspirational.
| Goal | When | Match |
|---|---|---|
| 900th | 5 September 2024 | Portugal 2-1 Croatia, Nations League — a tap-in from a Nuno Mendes cross |
| 950th | 2 September 2025 | Al-Nassr 2-0 Al-Hazem, Saudi Pro League |
| 981th | 9 October 2026 | Al-Nassr 3-0 Al Diriyah, Saudi Pro League |
| 981th | 11 September 2026 | Al-Nassr 2-1 Abha, Saudi Pro League |
Where the goals came from matters for what comes next. Real Madrid account for the biggest single block — 450 goals in 438 games. Portugal produced 146, and that count is now closed. Al-Nassr have supplied 132 and rising, which is why the club shirt is the one attached to the milestone.
| Chapter | Goals | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Real Madrid | 450 | Finished |
| Portugal | 146 | Finished — men's international record |
| Al-Nassr | 132 | Active — the only route to 1,000 |
| Manchester United, Juventus, Sporting | 251 across the three | Finished |
What has to happen next
Twenty-one goals is not a small ask at 41, but it is not a fantasy either. He scored 28 in the Saudi Pro League last season and had three in five starts this campaign before the international break. One projection cited by beIN Sports put the scoring rate needed to reach 1,000 before the end of the calendar year at roughly 1.31 goals per match, which is why the more realistic window is the full season rather than December.
The route runs through two competitions: the Saudi Pro League, where Al-Nassr are the reigning champions under Ange Postecoglou — their first title in seven years — and the AFC Champions League Elite. His first match back is at home to Al-Diriyah on 9 October, a fixture that would normally be a footnote in a career and now is not.
Two things are true. He can reach 1,000 without forcing anything — the rate he has held for two years gets him there inside the season. And the way he behaves in the next six months decides whether the number reads as the final achievement of the greatest goalscorer in the sport's history, or as a 41-year-old refusing to leave the stage. The goals are the easy part. The ending is the hard part, and it is the only thing he has not controlled in twenty years.
The shirt: why Al-Nassr is the hard one (and what changed this week)
Here is the commercial reality, stated plainly: Al-Nassr is one of the most-followed clubs on earth right now and almost no western retailer carries its shirts. As of this week we stock eleven: the current 2026/27 home and away shirts at $38.90, and the full 2025/26 range at $45.90 — home and away, printed and plain, kids' kits at $39.90 and a João Félix print. That is still a fraction of what a European club carries, but it is no longer two items. If the countdown runs to 1,000 this season, this is the shirt people will be looking for, and it is the one that will be hardest to find in the right size.
| Item | What it is | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Al Nassr 2025/26 Ronaldo 7 home | Yellow and navy, No. 7 printed — the title season | $45.90 |
| Al Nassr 2025/26 Ronaldo 7 away | Navy away shirt with the No. 7 printed | $45.90 |
| Al Nassr 2025/26 home & away team shirts | Blank back, no player name | $45.90 |
| Al Nassr 2025/26 João Félix 79 | The second name in the squad, printed | $45.90 |
| Al Nassr 2025/26 kids kits | Home, away and third — jersey and shorts | $39.90 |
| Al Nassr 2025/26 youth Ronaldo 7 | The printed No. 7 in youth sizing | $39.90 |
| Al Nassr 2026/27 Ronaldo 7 home | The current kit — the one he is wearing now | $38.90 |
| Al Nassr 2026/27 away | The current away colourway, blank back | $38.90 |
Read the sizing before you order
Both Al-Nassr shirts are cut in Asian sizing, and the size list on each product page publishes the UK/US equivalent next to it. That matters, because the two systems are not close. On our size chart an Asia M is a UK/US S/M, and an Asia XL is a UK/US L. Practical rule: if you normally buy a US large, order the Asia 3XL; if you normally buy a US medium, order the Asia L.
That is not a quirk of our stock — it is how these shirts are produced for the market they are sold in, and it is the single most common reason an Al-Nassr shirt gets returned. If you are between sizes, take the larger one; if you want a fitted look and normally wear a loose US large, the Asia XL will feel tight across the shoulders.
If you want a Ronaldo shirt that fits like a western shirt and is stocked across every size, the Portugal No. 7 is the safer buy — it is the same $38.90. Buy the Al-Nassr shirt if you want the shirt of the chapter that is still being written, and treat the sizing as the price of admission.
Which Ronaldo shirt should you buy?
| If you want… | Buy | Why | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| The live chapter | Al Nassr 26/27 Ronaldo 7 home | The club shirt of the season he is chasing 1,000 in — and the hardest one to find elsewhere | $38.90 |
| A shirt that fits like a US shirt | Portugal Ronaldo No. 7 home | Standard sizing, the last Portugal kit he wore, same price as the Al-Nassr shirt | $38.90 |
| The title season instead | Al Nassr 2025/26 Ronaldo 7 | Same printed No. 7, previous cycle, yellow home or navy away — no longer in production | $45.90 |
| The closed chapter | Portugal No. 7 away | The international career is over; the away colourway is the one fewer people bought | $38.90 |
| Something for a child | Ronaldo 7 Portugal kids' home kit | No sizing gamble, and it is the shirt they will actually wear | $35.80 |
Orders over $49 ship free: two shirts at $77.80, or an Al-Nassr shirt plus the kids' kit at $74.70, both cross it. Full ranges are in the Portugal jersey hub and the Ronaldo Portugal shirt history.

Questions we get asked
How many goals does Ronaldo need to reach 1,000?
Nineteen. He sits on 981 career goals as of late September 2026, after his 981th came in Al-Nassr's 2-1 win over Abha on 11 September 2026. No professional footballer has reached 1,000 senior goals.
When does Ronaldo's Al-Nassr contract end?
June 2027. There has been no agreed extension, and Saudi media have openly discussed the likelihood that the club does not renew when the deal expires.
Is 2026/27 Ronaldo's last season?
He told Vogue in August 2026 that this was "probably my last year of football", and his Al-Nassr contract runs to June 2027. He has also previously said the 2026 World Cup would be his final World Cup — Portugal went out in the round of 16.
When is Ronaldo's next match?
Al-Nassr host Al-Diriyah at Al-Awwal Park on Friday 9 October 2026, Saudi Pro League matchday 8. It is his first fixture since leaving the Portugal camp on 30 September.
What size Al-Nassr shirt should I order?
The Al-Nassr shirts are cut in Asian sizing, and each product page lists the UK/US equivalent. As a rule of thumb an Asia M fits a UK/US S/M and an Asia XL fits a UK/US L, so western buyers should go one size up from their usual — a US large is an Asia 3XL on our chart. If in doubt, size up.
Do you sell other Ronaldo shirts?
Yes. We carry eleven Al-Nassr items — the 2025/26 home and away shirts (printed and plain), the João Félix 79 print, youth and three kids' kits at $45.90 and $39.90, plus the current 2026/27 kit at $38.90 — and the Portugal No. 7 home and away shirts, the kids' home kit, long-sleeve cuts and the Eusébio heritage editions. The full range is broken down by price tier in our Portugal jersey hub.
Are these shirts fan version or replica?
Everything on this shelf is a fan version or replica. We do not sell match-worn or match-issued shirts, and we are not affiliated with Al-Nassr or any league.
Sources and method
Career totals, milestone dates and the 132-goal Al-Nassr split were cross-checked against match records and reporting published in late September and early October 2026, including Portuguese, Saudi and Chinese coverage of the Portugal camp exit; the next fixture and the Saudi Pro League title context come from Al-Nassr's published schedule and league reporting. The "probably my last year of football" line is from his August 2026 Vogue interview as reported at the time. Inventory counts, sizing and prices were read live from our store on 2 October 2026; where a number depends on a single outlet, we say so in the text.
