The Division Series opened on Saturday with a shutout, a one-hitter, a two-run rally that died on a stadium roof, and a 100-degree afternoon in Los Angeles. Four Game 1s, four winners, and all four series have since been decided.

Both American League openers went to the road team and both were decided by pitching: Chicago's bullpen held Cleveland to three hits in a 3-0 win, and Tampa Bay's Drew Rasmussen took a no-hitter into the eighth in a 1-0 win over the Yankees. In the National League, the Dodgers hit three home runs to beat Atlanta 5-3, and Milwaukee edged San Diego 3-2 on a seventh-inning swing and a ninth inning nobody in the ballpark could explain.

The short version
  • Game 1 winners: White Sox 3-0 over Cleveland · Rays 1-0 over the Yankees · Dodgers 5-3 over Atlanta · Brewers 3-2 over San Diego.
  • Best pitching line: Drew Rasmussen — 8 innings, one hit, 10 strikeouts, and the only hit came with two outs in the eighth.
  • Best swing: Jackson Chourio's 420-foot game-tying homer, the hardest-hit ball of his career and a Brewers postseason record.
  • Where the series stand: All four are done. Tampa Bay swept the Yankees, winning Game 3 4-3 at Yankee Stadium on 7 October; Milwaukee beat San Diego 3-1 in Game 4 at Petco Park to take that series 3-1; the Dodgers beat Atlanta 3-1; and Cleveland won Game 5 2-0 at Progressive Field on 10 October to take the ALDS 3-2 and send Chicago home.

The openers

The openers, the Game 2s and the Game 3s

White Sox 3, Guardians 0 — Cleveland

Munetaka Murakami, in his first MLB season, hit a 440-foot two-run homer off rookie Parker Messick in the fourth inning — his first postseason home run and his 36th of the year. Colson Montgomery doubled in another run in the seventh. That was more than enough: five Chicago pitchers combined on a three-hitter, with Hagen Smith opening for 2⅔ scoreless innings and Grant Taylor finishing with four innings and six strikeouts. Cleveland loaded the bases with two outs twice and scored neither time. Jo Adell struck out four times in four trips.

Rays 1, Yankees 0 — St. Petersburg

Drew Rasmussen retired 15 straight before Austin Wells doubled with two outs in the eighth — then ran through a stop sign and was thrown out trying for a triple, ending the inning. That was the only hit the Yankees got. Rasmussen struck out 10 over eight innings on 101 pitches, Jonathan Aranda's first career postseason hit was a homer off Gerrit Cole, and Bryan Baker closed a one-hitter for Tampa Bay's first postseason win since 2021. A crowd of 40,542 — the largest at Tropicana Field since the 2010 Division Series — watched the park host its first playoff game since Hurricane Milton took the roof off in 2024.

Brewers 4, Padres 3 (walk-off) — Milwaukee, Game 2

Milwaukee leads this series 2-0 after a ninth inning San Diego will replay for months. Mason Miller, asked for a six-out save with a one-run lead, retired the first batter and then walked Christian Yelich, Sal Frelick and Gary Sánchez to load the bases with two outs. Jackson Chourio fell behind 1-2, took a slider below the zone, shortened his swing on a 101 mph fastball and sent it through the infield to bring home two runs. It was his second career walk-off hit and his first in the postseason.

San Diego had led most of the afternoon. Ty France drove in a run in the first, and a second came in the fifth from a pair of Milwaukee infield errors that turned a potential double play into a mess. France's second RBI single in the seventh made it 3-1 — only for Sal Frelick to throw out Manny Machado at third to end the inning, and for Milwaukee to cut it to 3-2 in the bottom half. The Brewers committed three errors, matching their season high, and still won. Teams that take the first two games of a Division Series have gone on to win 83 of 93 of them, or 89 percent.

Braves 3, Dodgers 2 — Los Angeles, Game 2

The Braves evened the series with a bullpen game that outpitched a two-time Cy Young winner. Michael Harris II tripled off Kris Bubic with two outs in the fifth — Teoscar Hernández misjudged it off the left-field wall — and scored the go-ahead run on Bubic's wild pitch. His RBI double in the seventh made it 3-1, and it stood up.

Freddie Freeman had tied it in the fourth with a two-strike solo homer off Grant Holmes, his first extra-base hit since 2 September and his first postseason meeting with the club he spent twelve years with. Max Muncy's two-strike, two-out homer off Didier Fuentes in the ninth cut it to 3-2, and Raisel Iglesias got the final out for his second save of the series.

Ray Kerr opened for Atlanta and threw 2⅔ scoreless innings, striking out four including Shohei Ohtani. Blake Snell lasted 3⅔ for Los Angeles: 90 pitches, five walks, and a 27-pitch first inning that set up the Braves' opening run on Mauricio Dubón's two-out infield single. The Dodgers went 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position and stranded seven in the first five innings, while Atlanta's bullpen retired 15 of the last 16 hitters it faced. Ohtani finished 1-for-4 with two strikeouts, quiet for the second game running.

Game 3 followed at Truist Park with Chris Sale against Yoshinobu Yamamoto, the series having been tied at one game each. Teams that split on the road before heading home have gone on to win 30 of 49 Division Series in the current 2-2-1 format.

Dodgers 3, Braves 1 — Atlanta, Game 3

Los Angeles took a 2-1 series lead on the best postseason start of Yoshinobu Yamamoto’s career: seven innings, one run, two singles through the first four innings, and 10 strikeouts on 98 pitches. It was a new postseason high for him and the 20th double-digit strikeout game in Dodgers postseason history.

Kiké Hernández, making his first start of these playoffs, hit a two-run homer off Chris Sale in the fourth inning, and Freddie Freeman followed two batters later with a solo shot to right for a 3-0 lead — one inning after Mauricio Dubón had robbed him of a two-run homer with a catch over the left-field fence. Sale struck out the first six batters he faced and finished with five innings, 93 pitches and three runs. Atlanta scored its only run on a fifth-inning groundout. Miguel Rojas left in the eighth with low back pain.

Padres 4, Brewers 3 — San Diego, Game 3

San Diego, down 0-2 and facing elimination, opened Game 3 at Petco Park without closer Mason Miller: the Padres placed him on the postseason paternity list about 45 minutes before first pitch and added Wandy Peralta to the roster. Miller converted 38 of 41 save chances this season but blew the save in Game 2, walking three batters before Jackson Chourio’s two-run single. It did not matter. Nick Pivetta held Milwaukee to two runs into the fifth, Jackson Merrill made two running catches in the outfield and scored in a two-run third, and the Padres won 4-3 to cut the series to 2-1 and force a Game 4 at Petco Park, which Milwaukee won 3-1 the next night to take the series.

William Contreras homered 365 feet off Pivetta in the fourth, and Chourio’s sacrifice fly tied it 2-2 in the top of the fifth. Jake Cronenworth answered in the bottom half with a 368-foot homer off Romero, and Xander Bogaerts scored on shortstop Cooper Pratt’s throwing error in the sixth. Christian Yelich’s two-out single in the seventh made it 4-3, but Milwaukee stranded 11 runners, went 2-for-7 with men in scoring position and ended the ninth on a double play. Yuki Matsui won it in relief, and Michael King — who started Game 2 — worked two scoreless innings for the save.

Every series is best-of-five, so the earliest a team can advance is Game 3 and the latest is Game 5. Three of the four are now settled. Tampa Bay completed the round’s first sweep, beating the Yankees 4-3 at Yankee Stadium on 7 October to take the ALDS three games to none — the Rays’ first sweep of a best-of-five or longer postseason series. Milwaukee closed out San Diego the same night, winning Game 4 at Petco Park 3-1 for a 3-1 series win, and the Dodgers had already finished Atlanta 3-1. That left Chicago and Cleveland alone: the Guardians won Game 4 at Rate Field in Chicago 9-5 on 8 October — their second straight win with the season on the line — and then won Game 5 2-0 at Progressive Field in Cleveland on 10 October, striking out 21 White Sox batters, the most by any team in a nine-inning postseason game. Cleveland takes the ALDS three games to two and meets Tampa Bay in the American League Championship Series at Tropicana Field from 12 October. The Brewers meet the Dodgers in the National League Championship Series from 11 October in Milwaukee.

White Sox 4, Guardians 3 — Cleveland, Game 2

Cleveland went on to win the series 3-2, taking Game 5 2-0 at Progressive Field in Cleveland on 10 October. The White Sox were 4-0 in these playoffs, all on the road, until Cleveland beat them 9-3 in Game 3 and 9-5 in Game 4; they reached the postseason following three consecutive 100-loss seasons.

Braden Montgomery broke a 2-1 deficit with a two-out, two-run double down the right-field line in the sixth inning off Erik Sabrowski, and Chase Meidroth's single brought Montgomery home for a 4-2 lead. Sean Burke won it in relief: five and one-third innings, one hit, one run, six strikeouts, and 13 consecutive batters retired at one point. Grant Taylor worked the last four outs for his second save of the series in a combined four-hitter.

Cleveland had led 2-0 in the first inning, helped by an error from Chicago opener Sean Newcomb, and stayed in it because of Gavin Williams: the Guardians starter struck out 11 in five-plus innings, tied for the second-most in a Cleveland postseason game and one short of Charles Nagy's franchise record from 1996. He threw 18 pitches at 100mph or more. Jo Adell's RBI triple in the eighth cut it to 4-3, but Cleveland stranded the tying run.

Rays 5, Yankees 2 — St. Petersburg, Game 2

Tampa Bay led 2-0 and then finished the sweep, winning Game 3 4-3 at Yankee Stadium on 7 October, when Ryan Vilade and Victor Mesa Jr. homered off Max Fried. New York committed three errors in the first inning — the first team to do that in a postseason game since Oakland in the 1975 AL Championship Series, and only the third in MLB history — and four in all. Across two games the Yankees have two runs, five hits and have not led once.

Ben Rice supplied both of those runs on solo homers, off Freddy Peralta in the fourth and Ian Seymour in the eighth — the second multi-homer postseason game of his career. Cam Schlittler lasted four and a third innings and struck out only two. Peralta went four and two-thirds for one run on three hits, Cam Booser escaped a bases-loaded jam in the fifth by getting Cody Bellinger to fly out to the warning track, and Bryan Baker retired the side in the ninth for his second save of the series.

The fifth inning decided it. Jonathan Aranda singled and Junior Caminero doubled, a slow ground ball from Liam Hicks scored Aranda past a drawn-in infield, and Chandler Simpson’s grounder brought Caminero home. George Lombard Jr.’s errant throw then kept the inning alive for Richie Palacios, whose two-run single made it 5-1.

Our read

The Yankees are still without Aaron Judge, who has not played since 16 September with a calf injury, and they just lost a 1-0 postseason game for the first time since 1963. Tuesday's numbers say the lineup that scored 18 runs in a two-game sweep of Boston is a different animal with him in it. Saturday said the pitching may not wait for him.

Dodgers 5, Braves 3 — Los Angeles

Atlanta opened with Dylan Dodd, who gave them three scoreless innings against a lineup with Shohei Ohtani batting second. The bullpen could not hold it: Teoscar Hernández hit a two-run homer in the fourth, and Kyle Tucker and Max Muncy went back to back in the sixth. Sean Murphy's 421-foot solo shot had briefly cut it to 2-1, and Ozzie Albies made it interesting with a 432-foot two-run homer in the ninth off Tanner Scott before Evan Phillips got the final out. Tarik Skubal, acquired at the deadline from Detroit, went six innings for the win in his first postseason start for Los Angeles.

Brewers 3, Padres 2 — Milwaukee

San Diego led 2-0 early, then Jackson Chourio hit a 420-foot, 113.3 mph two-run homer in the third — the hardest-hit ball of his career, his fifth postseason homer, and a Brewers franchise record. William Contreras won it in the seventh, turning on a 100.1 mph sinker from Adrián Morejón for the go-ahead solo shot — only the tenth postseason home run hit off a 100-plus mph pitch since 2008.

Then the ninth. Ty France hit a towering fly to left that struck a railing on the American Family Field roof, and under the ground rules the ball stayed live: Jackson Chourio caught it in fair territory on the warning track for an out. A potential go-ahead homer became the second out of the inning, and Milwaukee held on.

Jerseys

The shirts still alive

Four clubs are still playing: the Rays, Brewers and Dodgers have moved on to the League Championship Series, and the Guardians joined them by winning Game 5. The White Sox are out, the last of the eight Division Series teams to be eliminated. All eight — the eliminated ones included — are on the shelf: home replicas, player prints and alternate colourways. These are the ones we would pick for each fanbase right now.

FAQ

Questions we get asked

Who won Game 1 of each Division Series?

Chicago beat Cleveland 3-0, Tampa Bay beat the Yankees 1-0, the Dodgers beat Atlanta 5-3, and Milwaukee beat San Diego 3-2. Since then the Rays have swept the Yankees 3-0, the Dodgers have taken Atlanta 3-1, and the Brewers have beaten San Diego 3-1, and Cleveland then won Game 5 2-0 at Progressive Field on 10 October to take that series 3-2 and eliminate Chicago.

How many games are in a Division Series?

Five, best of five, with the higher seed hosting Games 1, 2 and 5. The first team to three wins moves to the League Championship Series.

Who won the Braves–Dodgers series?

Los Angeles won it three games to one, closing it out with a 4-1 win in Game 4 at Truist Park on 7 October. The Dodgers had taken Game 3 on 6 October behind Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who struck out 10 over seven innings; Kiké Hernández and Freddie Freeman homered in the fourth.

Who won the ALDS between the White Sox and Guardians?

Cleveland won it three games to two. The Guardians beat the Chicago White Sox 2-0 in Game 5 at Progressive Field in Cleveland on 10 October 2026, after Chicago had won the first two games of the ALDS and Cleveland had answered with wins in Games 3, 4 and 5. All four Division Series are now complete, and the Guardians face the Tampa Bay Rays in the ALCS.

What happened in Game 2 of the Division Series?

Milwaukee beat San Diego 4-3 on Jackson Chourio’s two-run walk-off single, Atlanta beat the Dodgers 3-2 in Los Angeles, Chicago beat Cleveland 4-3 in Cleveland on Braden Montgomery’s two-run sixth-inning double, and Tampa Bay beat the Yankees 5-2 in St. Petersburg on a four-run fifth inning. Every Game 2 is now complete.

What happened in Game 3 of the National League Division Series?

Los Angeles beat Atlanta 3-1 at Truist Park in Game 3 — Yoshinobu Yamamoto struck out 10 in seven innings, and Kiké Hernández and Freddie Freeman homered in a three-run fourth against Chris Sale. San Diego beat Milwaukee 4-3 at Petco Park in Game 3: the Padres scored twice in the third, Jake Cronenworth homered in the fifth, and Michael King closed it out.

What happened in Game 4 of the American League Division Series?

The Cleveland Guardians beat the Chicago White Sox 9-5 at Rate Field in Chicago on 8 October 2026, tying the series at two games each. Cleveland scored six runs in the sixth inning to turn a 4-3 deficit into a 9-4 lead, and Patrick Bailey and José Ramírez homered in the fifth. Cleveland then won Game 5 2-0 at Progressive Field on 10 October to take the series three games to two.

Is Aaron Judge playing in the Division Series?

He has not played since 16 September because of a right calf strain, and New York left him off the entire ALDS roster, which makes him ineligible for this series. Aaron Boone called it a close decision. Judge has been taking live at-bats and running in the outfield, but had not yet run the bases when the roster was set, and the club believed another week of rehabilitation gave him the best chance of returning for the ALCS if the Yankees advanced. New York was swept by Tampa Bay in three games, so his season ended with that series.

Why was Ty France's home run ruled an out?

His ninth-inning fly ball hit a railing on the roof at American Family Field and stayed in play under the ballpark's ground rules, so Jackson Chourio was able to catch it in fair territory on the warning track. It went down as an out instead of a potential go-ahead home run.

Do you sell jerseys for every Division Series team, even the eliminated ones?

Yes — the Dodgers, Braves, Padres, Brewers, White Sox, Guardians, Yankees and Rays are all on the shelf. That includes the Braves, the Yankees, the Padres and the White Sox, all eliminated in this round, in home and alternate colourways with both blank and player-printed backs.

Are these jerseys fan version or replica?

Everything we sell is a fan version or replica. We are not affiliated with MLB or any club, and we do not sell game-worn or match-issued shirts.

Who won Game 5 of the American League Division Series?

Cleveland beat Chicago 2-0 in Game 5 at Progressive Field in Cleveland on 10 October 2026 to win the best-of-five ALDS three games to two. Gavin Williams struck out 12 over 5⅔ scoreless innings two days after closing out Game 4, José Ramírez hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning off Sean Burke, and Guardians pitchers struck out 21 — the most by any team in a nine-inning postseason game. Chicago's season ended with the loss.
